About
Horsham District Council is seeking a Market Operator to manage, develop, promote and operate the Horsham markets portfolio from 1 January 2027, covering Carfax and Bishopric/West Street Markets. The appointed operator will be responsible for the management, operation, marketing, development and continuous improvement of all markets covered by the contract and must maintain commercially sustainable markets, support local producers, independent businesses and start-up enterprises, enhance Horsham’s reputation as a destination town, generate income for the Council, deliver high standards of safety, presentation and customer experience, support the town centre economy and wider stakeholder objectives, and promote sustainability and responsible business practices. This opportunity could suit companies experienced in market management, operations and marketing that work with local producers and independent traders. Key considerations include meeting the specified standards for safety, presentation and customer experience, achieving commercial sustainability and income generation for the Council, promoting sustainability and supporting town centre objectives, and operating under a concession contract structure.
