Tender: Marine Coring and Offshore Vessel for North Sea Late Cenozoic Scientific Drilling – 30 days (Apr–May 2027)
Released 3 months ago
About
The British Geological Survey, acting on behalf of the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD), is seeking a supplier for a marine coring capability and suitable vessel to operate offshore the southern North Sea (Netherlands or Denmark) for an estimated 30-day scientific drilling and coring campaign between April and May 2027. The campaign aims to collect continuous sediment cores to extend understanding of Earth’s dynamics over the last 50 ice ages and the warmer periods between them, using the North Sea Basin’s near-complete ~3.3 million year record to study past climate, ecology, large river systems, depositional and ecosystem regime shifts, and biodiversity turnover driven by rapid climate changes to inform understanding of environmental responses to modern warming.
