Tender: Manufacturability Demonstration of Palladium–Silver Membrane Assemblies for Hydrogen Separation – STEP Fuel Cycle

About

The STEP Fuel Cycle (FC) is seeking a supplier to demonstrate the manufacturability of palladium–silver membrane assemblies for hydrogen separation and recovery by conducting annealing, brazing and diffusion bonding trials and delivering inspected assemblies to UKFE for subsequent testing. The work includes tube characterisation (microscopy and hardness testing as received), refining and executing annealing process control variables and characterising their effects, refining and executing brazing variables for joining tubes to steel fittings, developing and executing diffusion bonding variables for joints to steel fittings, completing manufacture and destructive testing of brazed and diffusion-bonded assemblies with cross-sectional microstructure and hardness evaluation, producing membrane assemblies via the specified joining methods, and refining and executing an inspection regime on all assemblies.
