Clwyd Pension Fund is seeking an Independent Person to provide scrutiny and constructive challenge to advice and to support the Pension Fund Committee and the Head of Fund (LGPS Senior Officer) as part of the strengthened LGPS governance framework following MHCLG's Good Governance reforms. Flintshire County Council, as Administering Authority, manages pension benefits for over 50 participating employers and more than 50,000 scheme members, and the Fund is recognised for best-practice governance and management. The Independent Person will bring an external perspective to enhance governance, support the Pension Fund Committee, Pension Board, LGPS Senior Officer and other officers in maintaining high standards of governance, transparency and accountability; the role involves offering objective, expert insight, constructive challenge, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting compliance with LGPS legislation, statutory guidance and regulatory expectations across all Fund activity. The successful candidate must be independent of Clwyd Pension Fund and Flintshire County Council, free of conflicts of interest, and must not work for any adviser, fund manager or service provider that does business with the Fund (or that has provided such services within the last two valuation cycles); they will collaborate with elected members, pension board representatives and officers while maintaining an independent viewpoint.
