An experienced environmental contractor is sought to deliver river restoration and wetland creation works at Foresters Lodge in line with the Design Report. The contractor will bench a two-stage floodplain and excavate a new sinuous second flow channel on the right-hand bank fed by hillslope drainage and higher flows via bankside scrapes and in-channel woody material, install in-channel woody deflectors by felling designated trees and fixing root plates/trunks into the bank, excavate scrapes and floodplain pools, and construct interconnected contoured scrapes to divert existing drains and springs into the new channel to improve on-site water retention and attenuation. These measures are intended to activate the upper bench at approximately Qmed (about a 1 in 2 year return period), divert spate flows at Q4/5 into the floodplain, reduce channel incision and erosive forces, promote sediment deposition and increase the reach’s resilience to drought and high-intensity rainfall events.
