Tender: Fire Engineering Consultancy for New Wing at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square

About

The National Gallery is seeking a supplier for a Fire Engineering Consultant to support delivery of a new building integrated with the existing Gallery estate at its Trafalgar Square site in central London. The consultant will develop and coordinate the project-wide fire strategy in a highly constrained and heritage-sensitive urban and cultural context, addressing means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control, evacuation strategy, phased occupation, operational continuity and integration with publicly accessible environments. The role includes advising the client and project team, supporting planning, statutory approval and Building Regulations processes, liaising with the London Fire Brigade and the Registered Building Control Approver, coordinating fire strategy with architects, landscape architects, structural, mechanical, electrical and public health engineers, security and accessibility consultants, and providing advice through design, procurement, construction, handover and operational stages. Candidates must demonstrate UK experience delivering fire engineering services of comparable scale, complexity and sensitivity, including work for cultural, public or civic institutions, operational environments and heritage-sensitive contexts.
