The Wordsworth Trust is seeking a supplier for a feasibility study to identify a preferred option for the future use and sustainable operation of Rydal Mount, the Wordsworth family home in the Lake District World Heritage Site, acquired by the Trust in March 2026 with support from The Julia Rausing Trust and the Charlotte Aitken Trust. The study should consider how to ensure continued public access, advance the ambitions of the Wordsworth Trust and its partners, and recommend an operating model that is financially sustainable and supports the long-term resilience of the Trust, supporting strategic decision-making by trustees and senior leadership and strengthening relationships with funders, partners and other stakeholders while balancing experimentation with income generation. The guide price is £60,000 including VAT and all expenses; proposals must be submitted by 9am on Friday 24 July (BST) to [email protected], interviews will take place at Wordsworth Grasmere in the week beginning 10 August 2026, and the deadline for completion is the week ending 15 January 2027.

This could be ideal for heritage and cultural management consultancies or advisors experienced with historic properties and strategic feasibility work; key considerations include delivering a model that preserves public access while achieving financial sustainability, managing funder and stakeholder expectations, balancing experimentation with income generation, and working within the £60,000 budget and the stated timeline to complete by mid-January 2027.
