Didcot Town Council is seeking a supplier for the design, supply and installation of play equipment at Ladygrove Park, Didcot. The project will maximise the use of two currently underutilised landscaped mounds within the existing playground to create an engaging, adventurous and inclusive play environment primarily for children aged 5 to 11, with proposals encouraged to link the mounds and incorporate elements such as tunnels, bridges, slides, climbing features, natural play opportunities and accessible play equipment. Designs should consider relocating the existing multi-play unit to higher ground to address seasonal winter flooding and improve long-term usability and accessibility. The scheme must complement and significantly enhance the current playground (existing equipment is over 25 years old) to improve quality, variety and accessibility and deliver facilities comparable to Edmonds Park. The confirmed project budget is £40,000; the Council is seeking additional external funding to increase the total to approximately £100,000 and, subject to successful funding, anticipates allocating roughly £80,000 for new play equipment and £20,000 for relocation of the multi-play unit and a possible accessible see-saw using existing accessible infrastructure. Tenderers should identify which elements can be delivered within the confirmed budget and which enhancements depend on further funding. All proposals must comply with EN1176 and with BS7188 and EN1177 for surfacing, and Didcot Town Council prefers suppliers who source equipment from the United Kingdom to reduce delays for replacement parts.
