Newark and Sherwood District Council is seeking a service provider for the collection, haulage and sale/reprocessing of mixed kerbside glass packaging (EWC 20 01 02) collected by the Council and stored at Newark and Sherwood District Council Lorry Park, Great North Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire (Waste Transfer Station EPR/LP3222SD). The Council intends to appoint one concession contract Service Provider to manage the sale/disposal of sorted glass into reprocessing markets, provide haulage from the transfer station to a reprocessing facility, and establish a mutually beneficial financial arrangement to maximise revenue. The Council estimates an annual tonnage of approximately 2,200 tonnes (guidance only; no minimum guaranteed) and will guarantee exclusivity for all kerbside and bring bank glass it collects. Providers must hold appropriate licences and comply with current or amended legislation; the Council is applying to vary its environmental permit to record the glass under EWC code 15 01 07. The contract is expected to start on 2 November 2026 for an initial period of two years with an option to extend for a further two years. This procurement is a below-threshold concession process under the Procurement Act 2023 managed by Welland Procurement and published on ProContract (DN822606). Tender submissions are due by 12:00 noon on 15 September 2026.
