Newark & Sherwood District Council is seeking a service provider to manage the sale, disposal, haulage and reprocessing of mixed kerbside glass packaging (EWC 20 01 02) collected by the Council and brought to the Council’s Lorry Park, Great North Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire (Waste Transfer Station EPR/LP3222SD). The appointed provider will buy the glass, transport it from the transfer station to their reprocessing facility, and sell sorted recycling material into reprocessing markets to establish a revenue-sharing arrangement that maximises income for the Council. The Council estimates an annual tonnage of approximately 2,200 tonnes (guidance only; no minimum tonnage guaranteed) and will guarantee exclusivity to all kerbside and bring bank glass it collects. The contract is anticipated to start on 3 August 2026 for an initial two-year period with an option to extend for a further two years subject to satisfactory performance. The procurement is conducted as a Concession Contract under the Procurement Act 2023 via a below-threshold open procedure and is managed by Welland Procurement in partnership with the Council (Project ID: DN816365).
