Consultancy needed to assess the implications and resource requirements of emerging UNESCO World Heritage Site bids in and around Armagh City, Northern Ireland. The work covers two transnational, serial nominations: The Royal Sites of Ireland, incorporating Navan Fort, and the Historical Astronomical Observatories of Ireland, incorporating Armagh Observatory and Planetarium. Both components are located in or near Armagh City; the Royal Sites series also includes components in Counties Meath, Westmeath, Roscommon, Kildare and Tipperary, while the Historical Astronomical Observatories include additional components at Dunsink, Fingal (North County Dublin) and Birr, County Offaly. Both nomination groups are on Ireland's most recent Tentative List. The pathway to World Heritage inscription is described in four stages: review and preparation of the Tentative List; preparation of the preliminary assessment and nomination dossier; evaluation; and decision by the World Heritage Committee.
