NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Integrated Care Board, NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board and NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board are seeking a suitably qualified supplier to deliver sight testing to children and young people with SEND in residential and day special educational settings across the BSW, Somerset and Dorset footprints (including Bournemouth and Poole). The single-lot service will deliver routine appointments, triage and treatment, provide annual school-based sight tests unless a more frequent interval is clinically indicated, work closely with school staff, parents and carers, offer guidance based on individual needs and medical history, obtain written consent, enable parent/carer attendance for tests and frame selection, provide a range of suitable frames or an NHS optical voucher, issue an eye health outcome and vision report, and make appropriate onward referrals. The contract is for an initial three-year term with an optional extension of up to two years, will commence on 1 April 2027, is a new service so TUPE does not apply, and is being procured by NHS South, Central & West on behalf of the commissioners (management of the procurement may move to a successor during restructuring).
