About

Merseytravel awarded a contract to Mott MacDonald Ltd for the inspection and compliance assessment of vehicle restraint systems (VRS) on the Kingsway Tunnel approach roads on both sides of the River Mersey.

The commission was structured in two stages: Stage 1 involved physical inspection of all existing VRS and production of a report identifying defective and non-compliant systems, along with marked-up ACAD drawings; Stage 2 covered the development of a specification for remedial/replacement works, preparation of tender documentation, creation and maintenance of a risk register, production of a Tender Health & Safety plan, all necessary pre-construction information, and acting as Principal Designer in accordance with CDM 2015.

The contract was awarded as a call-off from Lot 11 (Highways Infrastructure Consultancy) of the Merseytravel Consultancy Services Multiparty Framework Agreement 2019-2023, with a value of £31,313.44.
