Tees Valley Combined Authority awarded a contract to Vivacity Labs Ltd for a sole provider framework to supply monitoring equipment capable of collecting cycling and pedestrian flows on Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) priority corridors.

The framework will be accessed through call-off agreements with TVCA and the five Tees Valley local authorities (Darlington Borough Council, Hartlepool Borough Council, Middlesbrough Council, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council).

The equipment must operate 24/7, 365 days a year on footpaths, cycle paths, and roads, and where appropriate, distinguish between vehicle types including e-scooters, motorbikes, cars, vans, buses, and HGVs.

Initial funding covers monitoring of four corridors, with the A689 Hartlepool town centre corridor already equipped at junctions with Victoria Road and Hucklehoven Way.

Future corridors will be added via call-offs as identified through the LCWIP process.

The contract value is £200,000.
