About

Doncaster MBC awarded a contract to Simmonsigns Ltd for the supply of bollards and Belisha beacons used in the construction of new and maintenance of existing traffic islands.

The materials are required for prompt replacement following accident damage to ensure the council is protected against driver claims for incorrectly marked traffic islands.

The contract, valued at £65,000, was awarded via a CPR waiver under ESPO 221, following the expiration of a previous ESPO OJEU-compliant further competition contract that ran from June 2016 to June 2020.

The waiver was implemented to allow the market time to recover from COVID-19 shutdowns and for suppliers to assess their ability to support a new tender, thereby enabling Doncaster to benefit from the full market upon reopening.
