About

Bradford Metropolitan District Council awarded a contract to Virgin Media Business Ltd for the urgent purchase of 7 Cisco switches to support a Proof of Concept (POC) across 4 Council sites.

The POC is part of a bandwidth upgrade from 10MB to 100MB and aims to test automation processes for switches at MAN sites, ensuring compatibility with the Council's datacentre and auto-provisioning requirements.

The hardware must be Cisco to integrate with the Council's existing core networking investment and is to be purchased via a Cisco approved reseller.

The POC is a precursor to upgrading 68 sites within 12 months due to existing switches reaching End of Life.

The contract value is £26,745.31.
