About

Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to Environmental Land Management Solutions for controlling and eradicating rhododendron on peat bunds at Roudsea Woods and Mosses (South and North Bogs) as part of the Cumbria Bog LIFE project.

The work follows four years of removal of approximately 150ha of tree scrub and rhododendron and rewetting efforts that have successfully raised the water table, promoting peat-forming Sphagnum moss recolonisation.

The remaining rhododendron on the peat bunds requires control to prevent rapid re-colonisation and spread that would undo the restoration achievements.

The contract value is £35,808.
