Research on Preparedness of Recent Medical Graduates for Anticipated Healthcare Needs
Awarded 03 Mar 2020
About
General Medical Council awarded a contract to University Of Plymouth for research to understand the extent to which recent graduates (doctors in foundation training) are prepared to meet specific anticipated healthcare needs.
The research explores whether graduate doctors have the skills, capabilities, and attributes to meet needs within three focus themes: the changing patient-doctor relationship, the doctor in a multi-disciplinary team, and complex clinical decision making.
The findings will support engagement with the development of the NHS People Plan and other workforce planning, as well as inform any further review or updating of the regulation of undergraduate medical education or the foundation programme.
The contract value is £100,000.
