About

South Ribble Borough Council awarded a contract to Alitex Ltd for the design and build replacement of the deteriorating timber frame of the Victorian display glasshouse in the formal gardens at Worden Park, Leyland, with a more durable, lower-maintenance aluminium frame to an identical design.

The works included surveying the existing timber frame, designing and fabricating an aluminium frame, doors and rainwater goods with a paint system, dismantling and disposing of the existing frame, glazing and doors, and assembling the new aluminium frame on site with toughened single glazing, vents and doors.

The contract, valued at AUD 193,000, fell under CDM Regulations 2015, with the contractor assuming the roles of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
