About

North Ayrshire Council awarded a contract to Maclean & Speirs for the refurbishment of the Low Green Footbridge in Irvine, valued at £152,758.

The project involved installing a temporary safe working platform to comply with structural loading limitations, removing the existing deck, and surveying the bridge to determine replacement member sizing for fabrication.

Works included refurbishment, strengthening, member and rivet replacement, removal of existing paint and repainting, installation of a new steel deck with waterproofing, and new parapet mesh.

Existing brickwork was surveyed and rebuilt or repointed as necessary, and approach ramps were resurfaced and re-graded to align with the new bridge deck levels.
