RAPID LIFE Project for Holistic Management of Invasive Alien Species in Freshwater

About

Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to Green by Nature Conservation for the RAPID LIFE project, a three-year initiative led by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) with Natural England and Bristol Zoo as key partners.

The project pilots an innovative approach to managing invasive alien species (IAS) in freshwater aquatic, riparian, and coastal environments across England, focusing on two priority study regions: East of England and South West.

It aims to reduce the impact and spread of IAS, conserve species protected under the Birds and Habitats Directives, and assist compliance with the EU Regulation on IAS, Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and Water Framework Directive, while enhancing and protecting Natura 2000 sites.

The contract value is £40,000.
