Staffordshire County Council awarded a contract to Assist for the provision of self-advocacy services for individuals aged 14 and over with a learning disability and/or autistic spectrum condition, and those aged 14 to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) in Staffordshire.

The service enables participants to speak up for themselves and others on issues important to them through user-led local groups, focus groups, peer support, and one-to-one sessions.

It facilitates involvement in Council and NHS projects, ensures feedback on how input has shaped projects, and uses plain language and alternative communication methods such as Makaton.

Meetings are arranged at times and locations chosen by client groups, with consideration for accessibility and transport needs.

The contract value is £920,000.
