Provision of PHEC Clinical Placements for Defence Medic Programme Cohort 2
Awarded 18 Oct 2015
About
The Ministry of Defence awarded a contract to The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives for the provision of up to 47 ambulance clinical placements with NHS Ambulance Trusts for Cohort 2 of the Defence Medic programme delivered by DCHET.
The placements support the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) award, which requires an 8-week didactic course and 750 hours (20 weeks) of clinical practice, including at least 15 weeks in a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) setting.
As no suitable military units exist for PHEC placements, they are conducted within Ambulance Trusts, with access brokered through a top-level agreement between Health Education England and the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives.
The contract value is AUD 62,040.
