About

Wirksworth Town Council awarded a contract to Wildscapes for the Meadows Renewal Project, a landscape restoration initiative aimed at rejuvenating a neglected site comprising scrubland, grassland, and woodland.

The project includes clearing and re-seeding grassland to create a large meadow over one third of the site using locally sourced native seed mixes, improving remaining grassland and scrub, creating a mown lawned community space, constructing sustainable drainage systems (SUDs) for drainage and biodiversity, upgrading footpaths and adding a new major footpath, improving the eastern woodland path with expert tree care, and installing gabion seating.

The contract value is AUD 180,000, with a duration of approximately 12-16 weeks beginning 1 July 2024.
