About

Devon County Council awarded a contract to MetDesk Limited for the provision of highway winter service weather forecasting for the South West Consortium, comprising Devon County Council, Torbay Council, Plymouth City Council, Dorset Council, and Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council.

The service supports effective winter service and highway maintenance by enabling timely responses to hazards on highways during winter, with optional support for summer maintenance activities.

The forecaster is expected to be fully conversant with the national code of practice 'Well Managed Highway Infrastructure' and best practices from the National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG), providing weather information to help the consortium comply with these standards for winter service decision-making.

The contract value is AUD 800,000, with an option to extend for 4 x 12 months, up to a maximum term of seven years, at the discretion of Devon Procurement Service.
