Feasibility Study for Heritage & Cultural Community Sites in Kettering
Awarded 11 Dec 2018
About
Kettering Borough Council awarded a contract to Colliers International Property Advisers UK LLP for a feasibility study to assess options to improve community facilities across three Grade II listed heritage assets: Alfred East Art Gallery, Kettering Library, and Manor House Museum.
The study included reviewing site plans and surveys, consulting with existing users, assessing market demand, and evaluating the sites within the wider context of creative and cultural industries, heritage tourism, and community services.
It provided recommendations for commercial viability, cost determination, and potential revenue generation, with options ranging from low-level investment to ambitious plans requiring approximately £2.5 million in capital investment, preferably in two phases.
The study also outlined anticipated outputs such as job creation and business start-ups, and outcomes like improved social impact and community resilience, aligning with Kettering Corporate priorities, Area Action Plan, SEMLEP's Local Industrial Strategy, and Local Growth Fund guidelines.
Initial architectural drawings for the preferred option were included.
The contract value was £15,000.
