About

Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to Noise Consultants Ltd for the design and build of an environmental noise modelling framework.

The framework aims to develop a new noise monitoring methodology for England, which may be adopted by Devolved Administrations and other authorities, to meet legal obligations for the next round of noise mapping by 2022 and populate the 25 Year Environment Plan Indicator.

The contract value is AUD 100,000.

The output includes an environmental noise model enabling scenario and retrospective modelling covering road and rail transport sources at a strategic national level in England, with the ability to post-process generated noise levels spatially and incorporate industrial and airport noise data from external sources in common formats such as ascii or shapefile.

The solution will enable analysis of noise data from all four noise sources, particularly with population data, in line with existing legal obligations.
