Development of Guidance for Informal Food Authenticity Surveillance Programmes
Awarded 15 Nov 2018
About
Defra Network eTendering Portal awarded a contract to Royal Society of Chemistry for the development of guidance on informal food authenticity surveillance programmes.
This project responds to recommendations from Prof Chris Elliott's Review following the horsemeat incident, aiming to facilitate guidance on surveillance programmes to inform national sampling programmes.
The guidance focuses on considerations for informal surveys, including whether they are targeted or representative of the commercial market, and the robustness and uncertainty of analytical methods.
These considerations are intended for use by local authorities and public analysts investigating authenticity issues such as misdescription or mislabelling.
The contract value is £6,500.
