About

Defra awarded a contract to Howell Marine Consulting for the production of a set of criteria to determine whether measures can be considered ecologically viable strategic compensation, to be used by the Collaboration of Offshore Wind Strategic Compensation (COWSC) programme.

The contract, valued at AUD 13,100, supports the Government's intention for developers to deliver Strategic Compensatory Measures across projects and organisations, including measures delivered by groups of developers or by Government, such as enhanced management of existing Marine Protected Areas or designation of new Marine Protected Areas.

The criteria will contribute to a Library of Measures available to developers when completing consent applications to help identify ecologically viable strategic compensation measures.
