About

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council awarded a contract to Heart & Soul Community CIC Ltd for the delivery of practical and theoretical training in painting and decorating to participants of the Black Country Impact project.

The programme targeted eligible 15-29 year olds living in the Black Country who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) and wish to pursue a career in the construction industry.

Courses lasted no more than 8 weeks, led to a recognised qualification (Level 1 or Level 2), and supported participants in developing a portfolio of work with an industry mentor for up to 6 months.

Training covered topics such as domestic, commercial and industrial painting and decorating, techniques like rag rolling, graining and marbling, surface preparation, safety guidelines, and application of water and oil-based products.

A written schedule of work was produced, and progression was signed off monthly by the participant and mentor, with regular reports to the Impact Project Key Worker.

The contract value was £28,686.
