About

Cefas awarded a contract to British Council Sri Lanka for the delivery of a climate change education initiative through the Girl Guides Association programme in Sri Lanka, under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).

The contract, valued at £40,000, involved using physical and digital education materials on climate change produced by OCPP in collaboration with Sri Lankan government partners in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.

These materials included four lessons on different areas of climate change in booklet form (digital and physical), along with accompanying videos and activities.

The programme aimed to deliver climate change knowledge to adolescents who are out of school or living in socio-economic marginalised communities, and the English materials could also be used to further English language proficiency, which has been shown to increase earnings prospects and alleviate poverty.
