Award of Portable Low-Field MRI System to Hyperfine Operations, Inc. by Kent and Medway NHS Trust
Awarded 22 Dec 2023
About
Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust awarded a contract to Hyperfine Operations, Inc.
for the provision of a portable low-field (0.064 Tesla) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, including associated peripherals, training, support, and maintenance services for a period of five years commencing on delivery.
The contract, valued at £280,000, was awarded via a negotiated procedure without prior publication under regulations 32(5)(a) and 32(2)(a)(ii) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015, as the system is manufactured purely for research and competition is absent for technical reasons.
The scanner will be used to accelerate local place-based neuroimaging research into dementia assessment and diagnosis, as well as other mental health disorders.
