About
UK Shared Business Services Limited awarded a contract to Airbus Defence and Space GmbH for the supply of FREIA Chopper System Disc Assemblies, required by UK Research and Innovation.
The contract, valued at £301,000, was awarded via a negotiated procedure without prior publication under Regulation 32(2)(a)(b)(ii) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, due to the absence of competition for technical reasons.
The neutron choppers are bespoke, with discs larger than conventional ones and complex geometric design, and Airbus was the only supplier with the technical capability and resources to design and manufacture them.
