Angus Council awarded a contract to DUNCAN&CAMERON for grass cutting and vegetation maintenance on the Barry Burn Flood Prevention Scheme in Carnoustie.

The work involved cutting grass and vegetation on the top and sides of the grassed/vegetated flood banks to maintain full flood efficiency.

Most embankment tops were vehicle accessible, but some areas required the use of strimmers.

Angus Council arranged for an ecologist to survey the area in advance and mark out any areas for exclusion, such as birds' nests.

The contractor was required to return later in the year to cut any areas that were excluded for ecological reasons.
